Senior Analyst, Intelligent Networks at Ovum
Areas of expertise: Next-generation mobile networks and strategies, mobile broadband, LTE
“The global supply of new frequencies for mobile broadband services is barely keeping pace with the growth in data traffic. As networks become saturated and mobile operators' spectrum assets are over-stretched, the provision of new technical solutions that can make more efficient use of valuable radio spectrum is now an urgent priority.”
Julian Bright is a Senior Analyst and part of Informa Telecoms & Media’s Networks team. He writes about a range of wireless broadband technologies including LTE, WCDMA/HSPA and Wi-Fi, and covers associated technology areas such as small cells and hetnets, next-generation IP core networks and IMS technologies and strategies. His specialist areas of research include mobile access network evolution and global spectrum availability and deployment strategies for LTE. He is a regular speaker and session chair at Informa conferences.
Julian has almost 20 years experience as a commentator and analyst in the telecoms arena. He joined Informa Telecoms & Media in May 2005 as editor of the fortnightly newsletter 3G Wireless Broadband, which was subsequently re-titled Future Mobile Networks. Prior to joining Informa, he worked on a freelance basis, and was also Editorial Director with the Telecoms publishing division of the Financial Times. Prior to entering journalism, he spent eight years with a major telecoms company working mainly on projects for BT.
Julian holds a joint honours degree in English and History.
