George Hoffman is a principal analyst in Ovum's Service Provider Technology team. George covers Asia-Pacific and Japanese carrier trends and strategies for a broad range of data communication technologies. Being a long-time resident of Japan, he has developed extensive local market expertise through relationships with local technology vendors and partners.George joined Ovum in 2019. His area of expertise is service provider technologies, covering access and data communication networks including PON, routing, and switching. Prior to joining Ovum, George worked for Cisco Systems' Strategy and Planning team advising senior management on market trends in key technologies and services, as well as developing market and competitive strategies.

Prior to Cisco Systems, George had established significant experience in the Asia-Pacific communications market research and analysis field working for both IDC Japan and the Yankee Group. As group manager of IDC's Communications Research team, he oversaw analysts covering network services, managed services, data communication, and mobile services. Key research includes, but is not limited to, carrier network infrastructure, capex trends, and global carrier comparative analysis.
