Business Development at City of Palo Alto Fiber Optics
Josh Wallace is the Front-End Manager of the City of Palo Alto Utilities’ Dark Fiber Enterprise Network. Business development, project management and customer relations are his primary foci. He works with the majority of Palo Alto’s leading corporations, Universities and the City itself to provide unparalleled fiber optic access to commercial entities. Mr. Wallace has also been involved with Palo Alto’s FTTH efforts over the years.
Mr. Wallace spent several years in the Cable Television industry where he played a leading role in the development, testing and deployment of the first commercially available Cable Modem broadband service.
Before Silicon Valley, Mr. Wallace worked in Film, Television and Advertising in SF, LA and NYC. He holds a degree in Fine Arts History from The University of Colorado at Boulder.
Jongyoon Shin is currently responsible for the design of transport network architecture towards 5G, development and deployment of next generation transport network technologies including Transport SDN and Converged Packet Optical Network at SK Telecom.
He has several years of experience in embedded systems development as well as communication systems design including fiber optic transport, and networking. He has also participated in global standardization activities through ITU, IETF, and IEEE. Before joining SK telecom, He worked as a Senior Researcher in the Electronics Telecommunications and Research Institute, Daejeon, Korea, for 10 years.
He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 2000 and 2002, respectively.
Dr. Ong is a Principal Network Architect at Ciena Corporation and a Ciena Technical Fellow. He has been a major contributor to work on optical control plane and SDN, currently chairing the Optical Transport Working Group of the Open Networking Foundation (ONF). He is an active member of the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF), co-chairing its Market Awareness Committee and previously serving on the OIF Board of Directors and as Technical Committee Chair, and an active participant in IETF, having chaired the Signaling Transport Working Group in the past. Dr. Ong joined Ciena in 2001, after previous stints at Nortel Networks, Bay Networks and Bellcore. He received his doctorate from Columbia University in 1991.
