Emeka Okpukpara is a Deputy Component Lead for the UKNIAF program which a 4-year technical assistance program. He also serves on the Board of Nextier Power, a power sector advisory and consulting group.
Emeka Okpukapra Jr. launched his career at Willis North America, an insurance and risk management firm in Atlanta, Georgia. Emeka successfully completed a rotation through the Client Management, Claims and Risk Control, and Risk Placement teams at the firm. During his time at Willis Emeka worked with Fortune 500 companies such as Coca-Cola, Balfour Betty, Ameri-mart, and International Paper. He also managed the firm’s relationships with several municipalities in the State of Georgia, Fulton, and Dekalb County. Emeka was responsible for managing clients’ risk portfolio, including crafting strategies to mitigate technology and cyber risk. He was later promoted to a Placement Specialist where he prepared Requests for Proposals (RFP) for prospects in various industries
After seven rewarding years with the firm Willis North America, he left to join the Federal Ministry of Power as a Technical Aide to the Honourable Minister of Power with a focus on Change Management. The power sector in Nigeria was on the verge of privatization and Emeka and his team were responsible for creating the new framework for the Ministry, as well as for lobbying the Head of the Civil Service in Nigeria for a change in the previous structure of Federal Ministry of Power.
