John EdokpoloHead of Legal Affairs, Microsoft MEA Emerging Markets at Microsoft
John is the Microsoft Director of Corporate, External and Legal Affairs for all Emerging Markets across the Middle East and Africa. He leads a team of commercial attorneys and Government affairs practitioners, working to create an enabling environment for digital transformation of national economies in a manner that spurs local innovation, through the adoption of Cloud based technologies. John spends his time working with regulators to adopt the right technology policy frameworks, as well as engaging with business leaders, advocacy groups and corporate associations to promote trust in Cloud technology.
He is also responsible for providing general legal advisory services to Microsoft and commercial legal support to all business groups for commercial enterprises, public sector, small and medium scale businesses, consumer group and ICT consulting business. His corporate career spanning over 16 years, has entirely been in the telecoms and ICT sector in Company secretarial, compliance and ethics, corporate legal advisory, contracting, financing, policy advocacy and commercial legal roles. His previous roles include acting as Legal Counsel for Nokia Corporation (later Microsoft Mobile Devices and Services business) for Sub-Sahara Africa, managing the Corporate Legal Services and Commercial Legal Departments at 9mobile and Company Secretarial/Corporate Governance positions at Airtel Nigeria.
John has an LL.B degree from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Nigeria and a B.L from the Nigerian Law School.
