Rob Gallagher is Director of Research for Ovum’s Media, Entertainment & Consumer portfolio. He is responsible for directing the company’s global research and consultancy into TV and video, digital media, connected living, and smart devices and platforms.
Rob leads a team of analysts spanning five collaborative research practices: TV; Digital Media; Music;Consumer and Lifestyle; and Consumer Technology. As a member of Ovum’s management team, he is also responsible for helping define and deliver on the company’s over-arching research agenda, product strategy and long-term vision.
Rob began covering digital mediaand technology in 2000 as a journalist reporting on the then-nascent marketsfor Internet access and e-commerce. Since joining Informa in 2003, he has ledground-breaking research and consultancy projects into the evolution ofbroadband, the digitization of media, and the impact of smart devices. Beforethe integration with Ovum, he served as Informa Telecoms & Media’s Head ofBroadband & TV Research.
Rob is a frequent speaker andchair at international conferences and frequently advises operators, contentproviders, policy-makers, and vendors on industry trends and developments. Hisrecent research interests include the globalization of TV, the evolution ofInternet content delivery, and innovative trans-media strategies.
Rob holds a BA honors degree in Philosophy & Literature from the University of East Anglia.
