Christian Regnier
Enterprise Technical Architect - Critical LTE / 5G / IOT at AirFrance

Profile

Christian Regnier is the Enterprise Technical Architect for critical connectivity in Air France KLM CIO Group. He is also co-founder in 2012 and member of AGURRE association (Association des Grands Utilisateurs de Réseau Radio d’Entreprise - association of main users of PMR). One of the goal of AGURRE is to lobby the government and regulator to obtain spectrum for our own operational use.

The French regulator ARCEP has recently decided to reserve 40 MHz within Band 38 (2.6 GHz TDD) for the use of private networks. It will be granted on local basis to verticals who request it through a portal opened in May 2019.This is the result of seven years of promotion work done by AGURRE and also Air France.

In parallel of this work, to show the real needs for a company like Air France (and other verticals) and in order to assess if the technology is really adapted for critical and operational uses, on November 2016, an experiment at Charles de Gaulle (CdG) airport has been launched.

In parallel of that the project is started and followed by Christian Regnier to implement next year the definitive infrastructure at Charles De Gaulle and Orly Airports.

The other work underway today concerns IOT-M and 5G, which are still related to critical and operational vertical communications.

2019  with the POC of Private LTE in Roissy airport, was the year of winning of

The “Industry pionner disruptor excellence Award” at the big disruption summit in Amsterdam

The International Critical Communication Award 2019 (ICCA 2019) in the category “Greatest advance in the Migration to critical Broadband”.

And also nominated for the International Critical Communications Award 2019 (ICCA) in the category "Best Use of Critical Communications in Transport.

Christian Regnier works for Air France since 1999 after work in a telecom provider and integrator.

When he is not working, he is a runner (10 - 20 kms) and also a photographer of wild animals and landscapes.
