Profile

A key element in crop cultivation is an accurate, precise and consistent process if continuous crop inspection in the field. While some row crops demand an occasional inspection and assessment, others, such as cannabis and grapes, demand relatively frequent and close inspection. Yet, the challenge with any visual inspection regime of crops, or any inspection regime of anything for that matter, is: (1) the time and effort associated with the inspection, (2) finding qualified inspectors to perform the inspection with the necessary frequency and, most importantly, (3) getting consistent, precise and accurate data from multiple human inspectors. Bloomfield apples AI and deep learning to complement the work of the crop inspector by identifying and assessing most and, ultimately, all of the same plant characteristics, features and anomalies that human visual inspection look for and assess now.
