Thomas Abdallah, P.E. LEED AP, is the Deputy Vice President and Chief Environmental Engineer for the MTA New York City Transit. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers University, and is a Professional Engineer and a LEED® Accredited Professional. Thomas has been with MTA since 1987. Thomas is also a Professor at Columbia University in the Sustainability Management Program, and author of Sustainable Mass Transit: Challenges and Opportunities in Public Transportation, his first published book.

Thomas has extensive experience including sustainable design, energy efficiency, noise and vibration, pollution prevention and waste management. He is also in charge of several LEED projects including the Corona Maintenance Shop certified in 2007, and the Gold Certified Mother Clara Hale Bus Depot.

In addition, Thomas has presented all over the country on sustainability issues through organizations such as the Transportation Research Board, American Public Transportation Administration, the New York Academy of Sciences, and Greenbuild. Thomas has appeared on the Sundance Channel, Discovery's Science Channel, PBS, NPR and has appeared in a short film documentary "Postcards from the Future" about Hurricane Sandy's impact on the MTA.

Thomas has published his first book titled, "Sustainable Mass Transit" in May 2017.
