Automating service design and deployment across test and production networks brings new challenges for engineers and operations staff. While these teams have historically acted independently, there is a need for greater collaboration going forward and a need for new tools to support their workflows. This panel will explore the challenges and opportunities of orchestrating the complete lifecycle of network services from design to retirement.
Time-to-market is one of the main barriers to success in highly competitive digital cloud markets. Sanjay will discuss how a multicloud strategy can help overcome time-to-market challenges and tap into new service revenues faster.
Mobile operators worldwide are on the verge of launching 5G networks. This session discusses this the critical role of service assurance in optimizing network performance and customer experience in converged 4G/5G networks. Specifically, it will address monitoring and assurance of the "cloud-native" EPC and standalone 5G core that is composed of microservices, deployed on cloud infrastructure and distributed. This panel will also look at how service assurance plays out in end-to-end service quality, with a focus on granular and dynamic network slices.
Operators are embracing telemetry to collect huge quantities of data about their networks and the services running on top with a view to conducting sophisticated analytics. However, managing and analyzing this data continues to present a challenge to operators. This panel will explore the landscape of open source and commercial tools that can help transform these data sets into valuable insights.
This presentation will provide real-world insights into the objectives, challenges and benefits of delivering closed loop assurance across cloudified CSP networks. Mounir will outline his vision for a fully automated telco cloud, and share MYCOM OSI's recent efforts and insights on building the practical building blocks to achieve this, through collaborative projects involving AI, machine learning, open source technology, standards and open APIs.
In 2015, SmartBear, in conjunction with Apigee, Google, IBM, Microsoft, PayPal and others, announced the formation of the Open API Initiative, an open source project under the Linux Foundation. A year later, the TM Forum launched its Open API Program, which was collaboratively developed by service providers to transform IT, increase operational agility and improve customer centricity. Looking toward 2019 and beyond, how can telcos participate in the open API economy and migrate towards a platform business model? What are the drivers and challenges around API adoption? What is the return on investment for APIs? And what strategies are telcos adopting when implementing Open APIs?
What are the best strategies for deploying open source in CSP networks, in particular to support the transition to NFV? What is the maturity level of open source projects and how will vendors make the economics work for them? Will they be implemented as modular components or as full platforms? This panel will address these questions as well as the challenges operators face to ensure support for robust implementations of open source.
