Robert is the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury. Amongst other responsibilities he leads on economic growth, productivity, infrastructure investment and regional growth.
Robert was elected Conservative MP for Newark in June 2014. He sat on the Health Select Committee and served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Lord Chancellor, Rt Hon. Michael Gove MP, and then to the Home Secretary, Rt Hon. Amber Rudd MP. Prior to joining Parliament Robert had a successful business career, latterly as International Managing Director of the art business, Christie’s. Robert trained as a corporate lawyer and practiced with US international law firms Skadden Arps and Sullivan & Cromwell in London and Moscow.
