Sophie Moloney is OSN’s Chief Legal Officer and Head of Corporate Affairs with further responsibility for Content Protection and CSR initiatives.
As CLO she is the senior executive responsible for all legal, compliance, regulatory affairs and company secretarial matters for the leading entertainment provider in the Middle East and North Africa.
Prior to joining OSN, Sophie was a commercial lawyer for the UK’s premier pay-TV company, Sky (UK) supporting the Technology Procurement and Content and Copyright teams. Sophie has been in the UAE since 2011 (seconded from Sky,) first as Legal Director to Sky News Arabia where she was part of the team that launched the news channel, and then as a Project Director for Abu Dhabi Media and the capital’s media freezone entity, twofour54.
Among other things she managed the re-launch of the UAE’s national nightly TV news program, Oloum al Dar. Sophie began her legal career in private practice, first at Buddle Findlay in New Zealand, followed by a move with Ashurst LLP to their TMT practice in London. Sophie is an accomplished public speaker and was the Vice President of the Student Law Society at the University of Canterbury.
