Profile

Doug Austin is the Director of Product Development for EaglePicher® Technologies, an industry leading producer of batteries, battery management systems and energetic devices for the defense, aerospace, aviation and medical industries. Austin joined EaglePicher in 2018 and develops strategies related to the design and introduction of new products in accordance with technology road maps.

Austin ensures the timely completion and prioritization of EaglePicher’s product development projects. He is a collaborative, cross-functional engineering leader responsible for a team of engineers and technicians. Austin partners with business development and applications engineering teams to identify new business opportunities while championing continuous improvement in engineering technology, skills and tools.

Austin has an extensive engineering background with over 20 years of experience in new product introduction, military propulsion and nuclear. Prior to joining EaglePicher, he was a systems engineering manager for EnerSys, a stored energy solutions supplier for industrial applications. At EnerSys, Austin lead, managed and developed a new team of multi-disciplined engineers to drive corporate initiatives. Prior to that role, he was an electrical engineering manager for GE, an energy provider of equipment, solutions and services. Austin led the electrical design team in designing energy storage sub-systems hardware, including power conditioning system, battery interface cabinets and energy storage plant controllers.

Austin holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from State University of New York Polytechnic, Utica.
