Edwin Verplanke is a Sr. Principal Engineer in the Network Platforms Group part of the Datacenter Group at Intel Corporation. He is a passionate technologist and has been working on adding Quality of Service and Communications optimizations to Intel CPU’s and platforms. Specifically the Quality of Service research turned into a new technology roadmap vector now called Intel® Resource Director Technology. Prior to his current role Edwin led efforts to virtualize the data plane utilizing the Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK), this provided a key ingredient to advance the Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) industry transformation. Verplanke began his career in high tech in 1996 at Intel Swindon in the United Kingdom as an electrical engineer initially focusing on platform validation and later board design. In 2005 he joined Intel’s Communications and Embedded Business Unit based in the Chandler, AZ.
