Two Days, Two Breakfasts and Two Hot Topics: Virtualization & 5G!

About the Event:

Light Reading is now hosting TWO breakfasts at SCTE|ISBE Cable-Tec Expo to cover TWO of the hottest topics in cable -- virtualization and 5G.

October 1: Virtualizing the Cable Architecture -- Software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) are finally starting to gain traction in the cable industry as operators pursue innovative ways to meet growing bandwidth demands, boost service delivery and performance, slash operating costs and bring new products, services and features to market much faster than before.

October 2: 5G: Friend or Foe for Cable? -- North American cable operators have embraced mobile as a critical component of their expanding product bundles. In the U.S., Comcast, Charter, Cox and Altice have launched MVNOs with either Verizon or Sprint/T-Mobile. But now, with the rollout of fifth-generation wireless technology, the big question is whether cablecos can take advantage of 5G, by locking in lucrative backhaul deals, or will lose out to the telcos harnessing this technology to deliver speedy, competitive in-home broadband services.

In this special FREE SCTE|ISBE breakfast series on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2, leading MSO, SCTE|ISBE and vendor technologists will discuss the opportunities and challenges that virtualization and 5G present for the cable industry. Both breakfast workshops are free to attend for all registrants of the SCTE|ISBE Cable-Tec Expo
