Andrew McSpadden co-founded Trinity Advisers in 2003. Mr McSpadden was previously a Director of Media and Telecom Investment Banking at Credit Suisse. He formed Trinity Advisers in order to provide financial advisory services to clients independently of Credit Suisse. Mr. McSpadden joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), a predecessor of Credit Suisse, in 1991. Based in London since 1996, Mr. McSpadden has been focused on European Media and Telecom clients for almost 20 years. Previously, Mr. McSpadden was a member of the European Leveraged Finance Group and the High Yield + Private Placements Group in New York.
Mr. McSpadden’s transaction experience includes both buy-side and sell-side advisory roles throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, AsiaPac and the Americas, as well as public and private financings including initial public offerings and follow-on offerings, high yield and equity-linked securities, credit facilities, investment grade bonds and securitisation financings. As well as client assignments, Mr. McSpadden has completed several principal investments through the merchant banking and venture capital affiliates of Credit Suisse and DLJ - as well as directly.
Selected transactions and client relationships include the sales of Ultisat to SpeedCast, Media Broadcast Satellite transponders to M7, GE-23 to Eutelsat and of GE Satcom (aka Satlynx) to Signalhorn by GE Capital; the sale of Moscow Teleport to AltegroSky and an Inmarsat carve-out to RigNet; the acquisitions of ShipEquip, Globe Wireless and NewWave Broadband by Inmarsat; the acquisition of Asia Broadcast Satellite by Permira, the acquisition of Stratos Global by Communications Investment Partners, the sale of GS Telecom to Gateway Communications, the acquisition of Intelsat by affiliates of Apax Partners, Apollo, Madison Dearborn and Permira, the acquisition and financing of Inmarsat Ventures plc by affiliates of Apax Partners and Permira, the acquisitions of Hispasat (27.7%) and Stellat by Eutelsat; the acquisition of Telecom Italia by Olivetti; the initial public offerings of e.Biscom (now FastWeb), Fox Kids Europe, New Skies Satellites, ICO Global Communications and ISPAT International (later Mittal Steel and now ArcelorMittal); and advisory and/or financing assignments for clients including Liberty Media, NTL (now Virgin Media), SBS Broadcasting, Nordiska Satellitaktiebolaget, Two Way TV, Orbit Satellite Television and United Pan-Europe Communications (UPC). In addition to Trinity Advisers, Mr. McSpadden is a former Director of Shields, Inc. and Proteus Limited (now part of IconMedialab/LB Icon AB). Mr. McSpadden is a regular speaker at communications industry conferences, including those hosted by Euroconsult, IBC, iDATE, MediaCast and Telecom Finance. Mr. McSpadden holds a BA in Economics and International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.
