Martin Jarrold
Vice President, International Programme Development at GVF

Martin Jarrold has worked for GVF for over 18 years, having been appointed as Chief of International Programme Development in June 2001.

His particular responsibilities include outreach to the member organizations of the GVF and for the further development of the profile of the Forum within the satellite communications industry, and across the global telecommunications policy and regulatory community. This extends to the development and delivery of programmes focused on extending the understanding of, and promoting the use of, satellite-based communications in various key end-user vertical markets.

Mr. Jarrold is Chairman of the GVF-EMP Conference Portfolio series which encompasses conference themes including such vertical markets as oil & gas, mobile connectivity, cellular backhaul, and aeronautical connectivity, together with an annual HTS (high throughput satellites) Roundtable.

Mr. Jarrold is a frequent contributor to various telecommunications and other industry publications. In addition, he regularly chairs and contributes to a wide variety of telecommunications conferences, symposia, and workshops around the world, including recently, in late-2018, chairing the ‘ITU Satellite Symposium’ in Geneva, which immediately preceded the ‘ITU Radiocommunication Seminar 2018’.

In March 2019 Mr Jarrold chaired the annual GVF Satellite Hub Summit @ CABSAT, a three-day event which, in an embedded conference-style format, brought added-value discussion of key satellite industry themes to exhibition attendees.

Mr Jarrold has contributed to previous ESA ARTES programmes, leading the GVF contributions as sub-contractor to projects on ‘Two-Way Satellite Communications’ and on ‘Standards Preparation for SOTM Terminals’.

Previously, Mr. Jarrold was Commissioning Editor and Head of Research for Space Business International magazine.
