Profile

Alexia González Fanfalone (PhD) is the Head of the Connectivity Services and Infrastructures Unit at the OECD’s Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation, where she leads the team on connectivity services and infrastructures policy.

She has over 10 years’ experience on topics related to digital policy and communication regulation. At the OECD, she has authored and co-authored over 20 OECD publications on digital transformation, including chapters in the Digital Economy Outlook, and numerous analytical reports and country/regional reviews on connectivity. Her current projects include, among others, the evolving connectivity ecosystem and the environmental sustainability of communication networks.

Before joining the OECD, she was an economic advisor for the Board of the Federal Telecommunications Commission in Mexico (2010-2011) and a trainee at the Under-Ministry of Communications in Mexico (2008). Her academic research includes assessing the benefits and costs of broadband for the Post-2015 UN SDGs and the impact of mobile banking on financial inclusion in Kenya.

Alexia holds a PhD in Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE), an MSc in Economics from TSE, and a dual BA degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon and TSE.
