In his position as Executive Vice President of Swisscom’s Networks unit, Markus Reber is responsible for all the network infrastructure as well as its operation and upgrading. This spans not only the mobile and fixed networks, but also the core, consisting of IP and optical transport, and Swisscom’s data centres. Within the framework of the Swisscom technology strategy, he purposefully guides the modernisation of the network infrastructure – whether through strategic consolidation of the core, the ongoing upgrading of mobile telephony with 5G or the continuous expansion of Switzerland’s fibre-optic network. Markus Reber has more than 25 years of experience in the field of information and communications technology (ICT) and was directly involved in the liberalisation of the telecommunications market from the outset. He graduated in electrical engineering from Burgdorf University of Applied Sciences in Bern Canton and holds an MBA from the prestigious University of St. Gallen. Markus Reber also sits and plays an active role on the boards of Cablex AG, Swisscom Real Estate Ltd and the World Broadband Association.
