Donna CloseDigital Cultural Associate at Brighton Dome
Donna Close is a creative director, cultural strategist and award-winning festival producer supporting artists to make use of technology to create new types of live and hybrid experiences for audiences –especially in outdoor and unusual real and virtual spaces. Donna is the Digital Culture Associate for Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival (BDBF) and is the creative lead for the major 5G Create funded project, 5G Festival which explores artists collaborating remotely, immersive streaming, and developing new in-venue hybrid festival experiences. BDBF is an arts charity, cultural venue, music education provider and international arts festival which reaches a live audience of more than 650,000 each year and engages with more than 5,000 children and young people a week. BDBF is a partner in the Brighton 5G Test-Bed working with Digital Catapult and Wired Sussex to support creative teach and impactful cultural innovation.
Donna is also part of the leadership of the national project Digital Democracies for Threshold Studios and has led a number of research projects exploring this theme including XR Circus, 5G:XR Brighton Istanbul and Arts DRIVA - which supported artists working with data.
