Connecting the Unconnected
Tackling critical areas to connecting the unconnected living in rural areas within Africa
About Connecting Africa
Connecting Africa will take place within AfricaCom, addressing the issue of how on average, 69% of the African population do not have access to internet, with many of those unconnected living in rural areas. With a business-model challenge for operators, how can policy, technology and financing initiatives help overcome this challenge to solve rural connectivity?
Against this, Connecting Africa will tackle four critical areas.
Policy
How can regulation contribute to the rural connectivity challenge?
Financing
Key financing initiatives that help meet the commercial challenges for operators.
Operators
The network providers perspective and how they view rural connectivity.
Technology
How emerging technology is helping reduce CapEx and OpEx for the operators
