Simon Figures leads SC Ventures for North America based in San Francisco. He oversees Partnership and Innovation activity as well as sourcing investment opportunities for the SC Ventures Innovation Investment Fund and Digital Asset fund. Recent areas of thematic focus include intelligent automation, privacy preserving computing, responsible AI, Metaverse and Institutional Crypto and DeFi (Decentralized Finance).
Prior to San Francisco Simon was based in Singapore for 6 years in a number of roles, latterly as Chief of Staff to the Standard Chartered Corporate & Institutional Banking CIO focusing on Technology Strategy, Innovation and Agile Development and ran the CCIB Technology Investment Portfolio team overseeing a ~$400m+ investment budget.
Previous roles saw Simon running Business Analysis teams designing front office Financial Markets trading and risk management systems across a range of products including Credit Derivatives, Counterparty Exposure Management and Collateral Optimisation in London, New York and Singapore.
Simon studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Magdalen College, Oxford and started his career as a strategy consultant in London specialising in Financial Services.
SC Ventures established a presence in San Francisco in 2008 through a partnership with Apple to roll out the newly released iPhone as a corporate device. SV Ventures has since evolved to include a Stand Alone Digital Ventures arm to experiment with new business models, a $100m Innovation Investment Fund to make investments into emerging technology companies and an arm dedicated to internal innovation and entrepreneurship.
