The Orange Social Venture Prize in Africa and the Middle East celebrates its 10th anniversary

Orange looks forward to seeing you at the 2020 OSVP virtual awards ceremony

Monday 9 November 2.40 pm Central African Time

In line with our commitments in terms of social responsibility and digital inclusion, Orange identifies, supports and promotes start-ups through several initiatives including Orange Digital Centers (multiple countries), the Linguère Digital Challenge (Senegal) and MEA Seed Challenge (multiple countries).

Over the past decade, Orange has hosted another important event for the start-up ecosystem: the Orange Social Venture Prize in Africa and the Middle East (POESAM in French). The prize rewards the best technological projects with a positive social or environmental impact.

The 10th edition of the competition kicked off in March 2020 with a national stage, in which each of our 17 participating Orange subsidiaries reviewed the applications submitted nationally then nominated up to three national winners. Then during the second international stage, the 42 national winners were reviewed by an international jury, who will be giving out the OSVP Grand Prix awards to the overall winners at AfricaCom.

In addition to the historic Grand Prix, which awards a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize with a value ranging from €10,000 to €25,000, Orange will be giving out more awards with the launch of the Women’s Prize worth €20,000. The other newcomer specific to this edition is the Special 10th Anniversary Prize worth €10,000, which recognises start-ups that are dedicated to supporting vulnerable people. This brings the total number of prizes given out by the international jury to five.

Discover the 18 national winners of the 2020 edition.

Orange invites you to watch the winners of the 10th OSVP receive their awards on Monday 9 November at 2.40 pm CAT

The ceremony is hosted by Alioune Ndiaye, CEO Orange Middle East Africa and Elisabeth Tchoungui, Executive Director CSR, Diversity and Philanthropy.

We look forward to seeing you there to celebrate our international winners and 10th OSVP with you!
