Emir Halilovic joined GlobalData in 2017 as a Principal Analyst on the Service Provider Infrastructure (Global Telecom Technology & Software) team. His focus at GlobalData is on optical transport layer products and technology including WDM, OTN switching, OADMs, Packet Optical Networking, and converged IP/Optical platforms. He has a particular interest in how deep changes in service provider networks, like 5G, NFV and software-defined networking, affect the evolution of transport products and technologies.

Prior to GlobalData, Halilovic spent 14 years at IDC, where his latest position was a program director in Telecoms and Networking team in EMEA. Most recently he was the head of the IDC research team focusing on enterprise networking market in EMEA, and co-manager of a research program focusing on service provider infrastructure transformation. During his tenure at IDC, he managed research programs focused on telecommunications infrastructure and enterprise equipment in EMEA region. He also took part in worldwide IDC telecoms equipment-related thought leadership documents and projects on topics such as SDN, NFV, and LTE small cells. In addition, he led consulting and custom research projects centered on telecoms CAPEX and telecommunications and enterprise network equipment.
