Akshay is a strategist with deep implementation experience—helping Deloitte anticipate the impact that new and emerging technologies may have on its business in the future, and getting there from the realities of today. As Chief Information Officer (CIO), Akshay is responsible for helping to define the vision for Deloitte’s technology services, identifying and communicating technology trends affecting businesses, and shaping the strategy for Deloitte’s emerging services.
Akshay as Chief Information Officer for Deloitte in the Middle East, leads a span of technology operations across 16 countries with a team of 40+ members. Akshay manages technology direction and strategy for the firm, facilitating departments ranging from enterprise architecture, application development and digital initiatives to technology operations within his purview.
Akshay has been identified as the youngest member of India’s top 20 IT leaders to watch out for, by CIO magazine. He has published a number of articles in leading journals including Forbes Middle East and CommsMEA. He is revered speaker, and has participated in public forums like Dubai Innovation Council, Customer Engagement Forums and Cloud Adoption Conference.
Prior to his current assignment, Akshay was part of the advisory practice in Deloitte India managing a team of consultants focused on providing technology advisory on information security in the analytics and digital space.
Akshay is alma mater of Harvard Business School and has spent a large portion of career leading technology initiatives in telecommunication and financial service industry. He has been associated with innovative projects such as the first large IT outsourcing deal in the telecommunications industry, extending enterprise data to mobile platforms and leading edge costing methodologies within the telecom arena.
