Gerald Chee is the Head of Research at CoinMarketCap. He was the Co-Founder of Hashtag Capital, a boutique quantitative trading firm focused on trading derivative products for cryptocurrency assets. Hashtag Capital was subsequently acquired by CoinMarketCap. Before being entrenched in the novel world of crypto-assets, Gerald honed his trading skills at proprietary trading firms trading global interest rate derivatives on traditional futures exchanges. He employs strategies that are market-neutral and non-directional, finding alpha in markets through the use of relative value analysis and statistical modelling for mean reversion. Upon realizing the potential of pricing interest rate derivatives in a decentralised environment, he became absorbed with crypto-assets and has since shifted his focus from traditional finance to the burgeoning cryptocurrency industry.
