Hoe Lon has over two decades of experience in trading and investing in financial markets across Singapore, London, and Hong Kong. Currently the Head of Macro Trading for ASEAN and South Asia in Standard Chartered, he leads a set of diverse traders in the ten different local offices in the region. He started his career in Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, ABN Amro, and was appointed Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. In that journey of 14 years, he was helped by wise and dynamic mentors, built a strong client network in three hubs, and produced more than $250M of revenues. In 2011, he made a switch to the buy side, following his investing dreams, to join Tudor Investment Corporation as a global macro portfolio manager focusing in Asian markets. In only five years at Tudor, he has managed over $500M of assets, accumulated returns of 25.4%, and was promoted to the CEO of the Singapore branch.
At 40 years old, Hoe Lon explored new horizons and dived into the tech world of discoveries and startups. He spent substantial time in the National University of Singapore and founded, invested in, and advised startups in AI and blockchain. During these two years, he also wrote the study guide for The Institute of Banking & Finance Module 2A and published a book, Decrypted - A Financial Trader’s Take on Cryptocurrency.
Hoe Lon was brought up in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, graduated with an Accounting Degree from the University of Warwick in the UK and a CFA Chartered Holder since 2001. In having a lucky path in life, Hoe Lon regularly gives back to keep the “luck” going. He shaved his head with his family in the Hair For Hope campaign, organised to plant 145 trees with Nparks, and is now chairing the ACI Financial Markets Association Charity, which is in the course of raising S$1M this year. He also appreciates the talented winemakers of Burgundy. Hoe Lon happily devotes a large amount of his time with his mom, FLY, his beloved wife, Hsin, and his children, Xiao, Han, and Jue.
