Jack advises international and Chinese corporations, ultra-wealthy families on China - related M&A transactions, dispute resolution and general corporate matters. Jack has in-depth knowledge in the sectors of financial services, fintech, real estate, entertainment, blockchain and cryptocurrency.
Since Jack began his legal career, he has worked on a few notable cross border M&A transactions, including, ICBC’s acquisition of 20% equity interest in Standard Bank for US$5.5billion in 2007, and Sanpower Group’s acquisition of 89% of equity interest in House of Fraser for £450million in 2014.
Jack’s services to international clients include market entry, market exit, insolvency, labor law, bankruptcy, dispute resolution, compliance, general consultations on foreign investment related laws and regulations in China. He has worked with international institutions including such as World Trade Center San Francisco, SK Group, Professional Basketball Alumni Association and several British financial services firms.
As the head of the Firm’s Fintech Group, Jack has acted for many global leading companies in this sector since 2016. His client includes such as Huobi Global, Blackhole Capital (shareholder of Binance Group) and various other offshore crypto funds specialized in investment in blockchain industry. Jack has not only advised on China related regulatory framework, but also has provided clear guidance on those very challenging cross border legal questions from an ever-evolving international regulatory framework, i.e. assisting clients in drafting and commenting on legal documents and obtaining regulatory approvals. For example, in 2017 and 2018, as the lead counsel, Jack has successfully acted for clients in responding to a few international investigations by regulators in the US and China.
