Matt Walker is the founder and chief analyst at MTN Consulting, a boutique research and advisory firm specializing in telecommunications and cloud (data center/AI) infrastructure. With over 25 years of industry experience, Matt provides independent analysis and strategic consulting to a global client base that includes telecom operators, technology vendors, financial institutions, and regulators.

Matt’s expertise spans telecom networks (fixed and mobile), data centers, semiconductors, and emerging technologies such as quantum communications. His recent work emphasizes the economics of networks, supply chain security, and sustainability/energy efficiency. Known for his rigorous approach to network cost modeling and supply chain analysis, Matt blends technical depth with geopolitical and economic insight.

Prior to founding MTN Consulting, Matt held senior analyst roles at Ovum and RHK. He is widely quoted in the technology press and the main author of the “Silicon Silk Road” Substack. Having spent most of his career in Asia, he offers a unique regional perspective on markets like India and China. Matt holds a BA and MS in Political Science and Public Policy from the University of Rochester. He currently lives in the Bangkok metro area.
