Lee Bowen joined the City of London Police in October 2003 initially as a Detective Constable in the forces Cheque and Credit card Unit, and later as a Detective Sergeant and a Detective Inspector in covert policing roles, expanding his knowledge of countering criminality by using proactive and covert methodology.
Lee previously served in Essex Police, he joined in 1992 following two years previously as one of the last fulltime Police Cadets. Whilst in Essex Lee was active in protecting his community, introducing the first radio scheme, ‘Pub-Link’ that joined over 50 licensed premises together to prevent alcohol related disorder. Lee went on to gain extensive experience in policing Child Protection investigations which saw him commended for his work protecting children.
Lee has helped many families in his role as a Family Liaison Officer, including international deployments following terrorist attacks in New York, London and the Asian Tsunami.
From August 2018 Lee took on the role of managing a Fraud Team as part of the Nation Lead Force for Fraud. Lee continues to be active in training, providing Leadership and Evidence Based Policing workshops.
Lee has achieved a BA Hons in Sociology & Law at Essex University and recently graduated from Cambridge University with a Masters in Criminology and Police Management.
