ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Automation is one of the hottest topics in telecom today. Network operators are seeking ways to create more autonomous networks in which basic functions are programmable and done without human intervention. It holds a lot of promise to increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve operations. However, a lot of this comes at the expense of jobs – and especially line jobs without P&L responsibility. As such, automation could affect employment prospects more significantly for women in comms. That said, it could also present opportunities for those with the right skill sets, experience and smarts to get ahead of the trends.
Women in Comms is returning to Denver for a networking breakfast event for women and men ahead of the "NFV and Carrier SDN: Automation and Monetization" conference. WiC will also be tackling the topic of automation, but with a focus on what it means for women and how to make the most of it. We'll talk about the jobs impact, the skills needed in an automated environment, how to future-proof your employment and much more. As always, this free event hosted by Light Reading and Women in Comms' member companies will also provide an informal setting to meet and network over breakfast and a forum to exchange ideas, learn and grow.
This breakfast workshop will be held on September 26, 7:00 - 8:45 AM (first panel begins at 7:30 AM).
The event will be open to all women and men in the telecommunications, STEM and IT fields.
