Ste Ashton
Broadband, 5G and Connectivity Manager at Worcestershire County Council

Profile

Since 2013, Ste has led the Broadband, 5G and Connectivity team and programmes at Worcestershire County Council. Ste was the lead officer throughout the Worcestershire 5G project, focussed on Industry 4.0 and Security by Design, that built the first 5G network in a UK factory in early 2019. He’s led the transition into nexGworx, a new entity providing Smart Connected technology services, strategic advice and testbed as a service to support businesses looking to improve their productivity, reduce their carbon footprint and improve customer satisfaction, amongst other benefits. Ste also leads the consortium for the West Mercia Rural 5G project, looking at models for 5G deployment in rural areas and applications across health and social care.

Ste has a background in business, programme and project management in both public and private sectors, with experience across a range of sectors and disciplines, from telecommunications and technology to change management and global sports events. In his spare time, he coaches a junior sports team and spends time in the workshop playing with kit cars and other ‘projects’.
