Profile

James is a Founding Partner of HS., a healthcare accelerator and fund that builds, scales, and invests health startups to tackle global health problems.

James previously directed the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator, which provides in-depth knowledge of the NHS to a cohort of high potential small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) and received funding of £1.7 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.

James is an anaesthetist by background with 5 years of clinical experience. During this time, James first developed an interest in education, completing a PgDip in Clinical Education and working as a Clinical Teaching Fellow. His desire to improve systems then led him to complete and advise on numerous quality improvement projects, present internationally, and win the Merit Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Foundation Programme, following which he was headhunted by the BMJ’s Quality department to work on national projects. After completing Core Anaesthetics Training, James worked at Health Education England as part of the National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellow Scheme, a prestigious scheme by Bruce Keogh, focussing on leadership.

Before becoming Interim Programme Director, James originally utilised his experience as an NHS navigator for the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator Programme, and worked as an honorary Innovation Fellow for Professor Tony Young, National Clinical Director for Innovation at NHS England. James also sat on the Student Strategy Group at the Royal College of General Practitioners.
