Barry currently heads the satellite communications research group at the University of Surrey and is known to many as Editor of the International Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking. He has been involved in satellite communications, both in academia and industry, for over 40 years and has many publications and a text book on satellite communications to his name. After a period as Pro Vice Chancellor for research at Surrey he has returned to active research and now works on research projects funded by EU (SaT5G), ESA, research councils and industry on HTS satellite systems and satellites in 5G. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in the UK.
