Profile

With over four decades of experience in the telecommunications sector, Abdoulie has established himself as a versatile and knowledgeable expert in a variety of fields, including Switching, Transmission, Power, and related ICT systems. He currently serves as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of the Gambia Telecommunications Company Limited (GAMTEL).

Throughout his illustrious career, Abdoulie has not only played a pivotal role at GAMTEL but also provided consultancy services to several esteemed organizations. His consultancy portfolio includes:

The London School of Tropical Medicine, supporting the Medical Research Council (MRC) in The Gambia.

The National Petroleum Company (GNPC).

The National Airline Carrier (GIA).

In addition to his professional roles, Bass is a prominent figure in various boards and board subcommittees within the telecoms and broadcasting industries, where he contributes his extensive expertise to guide strategic decisions.

Abdoulie’s influence extends to national technical committees as well. He is the Chairman of the National Multi-sectoral Committee (NMC) and the President of The National Electrotechnical Commission (NEC) in The Gambia. These roles underline his leadership and commitment to advancing national standards and policies in telecommunications and electrotechnical systems.

In the past decade, Abdoulie has been instrumental in managing national telecoms operations at GAMTEL and Gamcel. He has coordinated numerous telecoms projects and overseen the implementation of national electrical standards. His dedication to education is evident in his role as a lecturer, where he imparts knowledge on electrical and electronic engineering and lightning protection systems at technical training institutions.
