ABOUT THE AWARDS

The annual Broadband Awards are regarded as the most prestigious recognition of excellence in the industry. 2018 categories were designed to showcase innovation in network technology, fresh products or business models, as well as those delivering broadband for social good.

Our 2018 host: Julia Hardy

Julia Hardy is a TV Presenter, writer, radio presenter and live host, specialising in technology, video games and social media. Julia is currently BBC Radio 1’s Video Games Presenter, producing monthly content for iPlayer such as ‘Fight Games – The Thrill of the Kill’ and ‘Uncharted Territory – Cinematic Games’.

A tech fanatic, Julia was Sky News Sunrise’s go-to expert on the subject for well over a year. She loves to try out the latest gadgets, and hosted the live stream of gaming tournament ESL One Dota 2 for BBC3 from Birmingham in May of this year, which saw her interview some of the biggest names in the gaming world.

Last year, Julia produced ‘Rockstar Gamers’ for Radio One Stories, which proved to be one of the most popular documentaries the channel has ever seen. She is also passionate about encouraging women to pursue careers in the tech and gaming industry, having participated in a number of panels aimed at the cause and helping to host the Women in Games Awards earlier this year.
