Based in Anchorage, Alaska, Erik Kuhlmann is GCI’s Senior Director of Engineering & Architecture for the Planning & Design organization where focus on long-range technology plans and creation of enterprise engineering standards become the roadmap for deployment of broadband, satellite, and wireless solutions. Prior to that, Erik served as Director of Access, OSP, and Facilities engineering.

Before joining GCI in 2020, Erik’s career focus was commercial broadcast radio with more than 15 years at iHeartMedia with the last 6 years as SVP of Engineering before moving to television in 2014 as Director of Engineering & Operations at Denali Media Holdings, a subsidiary of GCI, where exposure to GCI’s broadband and wireless technologies transformed his career path.

Erik holds a BS in Electronics Engineering and deeply enjoys all things broadcast, microwave, satellite, and telecommunications engineering; committed to leading diverse teams to success. His work experience spans dozens of broadcast markets across the western US and Alaska. In 2000, Erik received Clear Channel's Large Market Engineer of the Year award. In 2018 and 2019, Erik received GCI's coveted VIP Award.
