John Chapman is the founder and principal of NorthStar Insights, LLC, a technology and strategic advisory firm focused on engineering and product-market fit in the broadband market, including DOCSIS, HFC, PON, FWA, wireless, networking, VoIP, and video.
Prior to NorthStar Insights, John Chapman was the CTO of Broadband and an engineering Fellow at Cisco where he co-founded the Cable Business and built the industry's first CMTS. John was inducted into the Cable TV Pioneer society in 2015 and into the SCTE Hall of Fame in 2012.
With over 130 patents and 50 published papers, John is a prolific inventor, a primary author of DOCSIS, and the inventor of Remote PHY which is now the new HFC architecture.
