Profile

Jon Schnoor is a Principal Architect for CableLabs’ Wired Technologies team, focused on FTTP and PON solutions and leads the Distributed CCAP Architecture program. Jon has worked with FTTP solutions for the past 17 years and has helped develop specifications at CableLabs and standards at IEEE’s SIEPON working group. Jon has recently launched a new FTTP program at CableLabs involving ITU-T PON technologies specific to XGS-PON. In this new program, Jon leads the project and works closely with cable operators and technology partners to develop and deliver innovative and new concepts, designs, and strategic initiatives for the cable industry.

For the Distributed CCAP program, he is the technical lead for the Remote PHY project and previously, the Flexible MAC Architecture project, developing solutions and championing the cable industry toward distributed access networks of the future.

Jon has been in the cable and telecommunications industry for 31 years and prior to his involvement with CableLabs Jon spent several years working at vendor companies and has spent a good portion of his career in the Operator space with various engineering groups.

Jon holds a bachelor’s degree in management of information systems from Iowa State University and a Master’s degree in telecommunications from the University of Colorado.
