Women in Comms Breakfast Workshop: Combating Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

All the revelations of sexual wrongdoing in recent months have demonstrated that sexual harassment, sexual assault and men in power generally abusing their status are extremely prevalent and have been kept under wraps for far too long. It's not just happening in the entertainment industry either. The world of cable and telecom is far from immune. According to Women in Comms' 2017 survey of women in the next-gen comms industry, one-third of all women in the industry have been sexually harassed at their company or an industry event. Even more disturbing is that 65% chose not to report it, 37% of whom kept quiet because they were afraid it would hurt their careers.

If there's any good to come from the recent – and ongoing – wave of women sharing their stories, it is that the culture of silence around these issues is breaking down. It's time to expose the wrongdoing and change the workplace culture.

For Women in Comms' next networking breakfast event, taking place on March 22, ahead of Day Two of the Cable Next-Gen Technologies conference in Denver, Colorado, we are going to talk all about it. Our esteemed guest panelists will tackle the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace head on, discuss how to address it on an individual, company-wide and industry-wide level and suggest how to make these types of conversations less necessary in the future. Join the conversation by registering today.

This free event will provide both an informal setting for those in the industry to meet and network over breakfast and a forum to exchange ideas, learn and grow.

The event will be open (and FREE) to all women and men in the telecommunications, STEM and IT fields.
