Profile
Praveen Atreya is the Vice-President of Technology Development and Planning in Verizon’s Global Network and Technology division. In this role, he is responsible for developing the technology strategy and execution planning for Verizon’s next-gen networks and network-based products, including the Network Cloud and Edge platforms, Cybersecurity, Private Networks and Emerging platforms. He is also responsible for technology transformation in key areas such as Network Automation and Orchestration, Cyber maturity, Network APIs and AI adoption/enablement for the organization.
Prior to this role, Praveen was the Vice-President of Product Development in Verizon, leading the engineering teams responsible for development, lifecycle-management and innovation for the Verizon Consumer and Business product portfolio - covering Consumer mobile apps, IoT and Security products, Computer Vision and Robotics.
Praveen has over 22 years of industry experience in a variety of network and technology roles including innovation and ecosystem development, network operations and performance, new network technology introduction, and implementation and optimization of regional and national network systems.
Praveen is the recipient of the 2023 American Business Award for Leadership in Next-gen Technology, has been nominated to DiversityMBA Top 100 Emerging Leaders, and holds over 20 patents. He is a member of the Red Hat Strategic Advisory Board, the Linux Foundation Networking (LFN) Governing Board and the FCC CSRIC Advisory Council. He has a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunication from the University of Mumbai
