Robert Backhouse heads the Technology unit within Nokia Mobile Networks Americas

Rob’s responsibilities include managing Nokia’s long-term strategic plan for the Americas:

• Understanding customer requirements
• Developing roadmaps
• Promoting and introducing customer-focused solutions
• Representing Nokia in organizations like 5G Americas and other technical forums

Rob joined Nokia from his previous role as the Chief Technology Officer with Huawei Technologies Canada. Before that, he was the Vice President of Wireless Technical Sales for five years. In both roles, he successfully partnered with customers to develop innovative solution portfolios from an early incubation phase into mainstream business. In addition, Rob has worked with Qualcomm in the USA and Mexico and various roles with Alcatel Lucent and Telstra in Australia and New Zealand.

Rob attended the Queensland University of Technology, receiving a BEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Master of Information Technology.
