Dr. Richard Murray is CEO and Co-founder of ORCA Computing, a startup with a pioneering approach to quantum computing. ORCA’s approach uses off the shelf telecoms components, proprietary quantum memory technology and a unique architecture based on photon time-bins to build photonic quantum computers with a fraction of the resources that is are usually required. Richard is also one of Europe’s foremost experts in the commercialisation of quantum technologies having started and led the UK's activities in quantum technologies. Between 2013-17 he deployed £32 million into UK companies and acted as the spokesperson for industry for UK and European programmes, including the €1Bn EU quantum technologies flagship. Prior to this, Richard worked as a technology consultant and for Teledyne, a multinational electronics and imaging company. Richard possesses a rich track record of translating science into real products and services by managing cutting edge scientific teams to deliver results that excite customers and create business.
