Neil J. McRae, named after the first man to walk on the moon, has over thirty years of experience in the technology arena. Currently, he is a Non-Executive Director of the London Internet Exchange – the global leader, Neil also works for a large Silicon Valley networking technology company and is also a Partner at DGP an investment organisation focused on investing in sustainable Digital Infrastructure. Neil has been an advisor at many technology start-ups.
Neil was also Chief Architect and MD of Strategy and Technology at BT for twelve years driving BT’s £15B investment in Fibre and £12B investment in mobile with the acquisition of EE and went on to create BT’s IT Evolution programme, providing the company with a £3B investment blueprint for its Digital and IT capabilities for the next decade. Neil was also Director of Architecture and Design at Cable and Wireless, Director of Architecture and Engineering for COLT, and was a founding member of Demon Internet Ltd.
Neil is a recognised Distinguished Engineer and was awarded the ITP Outstanding Contribution to the Telecommunications Industry in 2022.
In his spare time, Neil is a manned space flight historian and also collects and restores classic Arcade video games and pinball machines and plays video games and pinball competitively all over the world.
