About:
Striving to stay competitive in the broadband, video and mobile markets, cable operators are scrambling to upgrade their hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) networks with new technologies, equipment and software. Whether they are boosting their networks to higher levels of DOCSIS, rolling out Distributed Access Architecture (DAA), carrying out spectrum mid-splits and high-splits, installing new fiber lines for PON or deploying fixed wireless access (FWA), cablecos are seeking to maximize the benefits of their legacy networks and stave off competition from fiber overbuilders, telcos and wireless providers.
Making these moves is no simple matter, however, as cable technologists grapple with the thorny technical, operational and cost challenges of such extensive plant upgrades. Where do operators stand with their network upgrades? What strategies are they pursuing? hich new equipment and software are vendors developing for the transition? What obstacles are operators and their tech partners encountering? How are they working to overcome these hurdles?
In this opening-day SCTE TechExpo breakfast forum, top cable technologists will tackle these topics, explaining how they are adapting the industry’s legacy HFC architecture and deploying next-gen technologies to meet the demands of a new era. Our team of experts will discuss the industry's latest network upgrade moves, the obstacles they are encountering, the solutions they are testing and the lessons they are learning.
