Dr. Ioannis Tomkos is Professor of Optical Communications at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Patras, Greece. His Research Group was/is involved in over 25 EU-funded research projects with a consortium-wide leading role (serving as Technical Manager of 10 major EU projects). In 2018, Dr. Tomkos was elected a Fellow of IEEE “for contributions in Dynamic Optical Networks”. He is also a Fellow of the IET (2010) and a Fellow of the “Optical Society - OSA” (2012). Together with his colleagues and students he has co-authored over 650 peer-reviewed archival articles, including over 150 Journal/Magazine/Book publications. His published work has received about 10.500 citations
