Simon has worked in optical infrastructure, technology and sales for over 25 years – always seeking roles that enable him to challenge and break new ground, and achieving many accolades along the way. During his early career, Simon worked for Alcatel where he contributed to the design and commissioning of Gemini; the first purpose-built transatlantic submarine cable for DWDM. After leaving to work on Ciena’s next generation optical switch ‘CoreDirector’, Simon then returned to Alcatel, where he secured Sky as a customer, leading to Alcatel’s first 200Gb DWDM deployment on the 1830 platform. Simon subsequently moved to Cisco, where he became the first in the world to sell NCS5516 routers, and the first in the UK to sell Cisco’s renowned cloud security platform ‘Umbrella’.
In his current role, Simon is using his unique blend of commercial and technical expertise to strategically-architect CityFibre’s growing national DWDM backbone – a critical part of the company’s mission to deliver the UK’s finest and most intelligent network.
