Yu Rong Zhou

Yu Rong Zhou is a principal researcher in BT working on optical networks and network synchronisation. Since joining BT Labs in 1998, she has worked on optical transmission and WDM networks. In recent years, Yu Rong has been working on emerging high speed transmission and optical networking technologies, she has played a key role in leading edge technology trials and demonstration at 100G and beyond. Yu Rong also works on network timing and synchronisation for supporting 5G and future services. She received her Ph.D. in optical fibre communications from University of Wales in U.K. Prior to BT, she had post-doctoral research positions in University of Wales and King’s College London, she also worked as a design engineer in Alcatel Submarine Networks. Dr Zhou has published ~70 papers in technical journals and conferences as well as a number of patents.
