Nick Kossifidis
Principal Research Engineer at ICS-FORTH


Mr. Nikolaos (Nick) Kossifidis is a Research Engineer at FORTH-ICS (CARV
Laboratory), with broad experience in IT security and network
engineering, and extensive experience as a Linux kernel developer. As a
member of the Athens Wireless Metropolitan Network team, he participated
on the setup of one of the largest wireless community networks
worldwide. As a member of the MadWifi team, he contributed to the
development of one of the most influential WiFi drivers on Linux, and is
since the lead author and maintainer of the Ath5k driver in the official
Linux kernel tree. As a security consultant, he has worked for various
well-known companies around the world, including Fortune500 companies,
doing penetration testing and vulnerability research on high-profile
hardware and software projects. Nick is actively participating in the
evolution of RISC-V standards by the RISC-V Foundation, currently
serving as the Vice-Chair of the Trusted Execution Environment Task
Group, and as a member on various other task groups. At FORTH-ICS, he is
the lead developer for system software and Linux kernel support of
advanced prototypes combining ARM and RISC-V technologies, in the
context of the European Processor Initiative (EPI) project.
